Strong Mind - Strong Body

I've been meaning to start a blog for a loooong time now and have used my excellent skills in procrastination to put it off.

Until now.

The actual purpose / content / intention of this Blog was originally to explore and share my interest and passion for all things weight lifting, health and fitness - but I have far more to talk about and ideas going on so decided to cover a number of topics.

Since achieving a major life goal of mine back in April of lifting 1,000lbs across the "Big Three Lifts" AND more importantly in that same month welcoming my first born Son - Coban Grove Woodking - into the world, it has made me more determined than ever to seek out new challenges, acomplish more with my time and set a good example for my boy!

It's amazing how much Coban is developing day by day. The rate he's learning is incredible and I'm in awe!

Inspired by this little 3-month old tough guy I've decided to launch myself into a couple of online training courses, challenge myself even more in the gym, start this blog and much more to come!

The two courses I'm currently working my way through are:

Learn HTML & CSS supplied by codecademy.com which is providing me with a basic begginers guide how-to in coding.

Digital Proficiency supplied by Google Digital Garage which covers everything from setting up a website and launching an online business through to SEO and analytics. This also offers a  Digital Garage Certificate of Online Proficiency upon completion.

I'll be updating right here with brief reviews and thoughts on each one as I work through them (I might even be brave and use HTML in an update!) as well as loads more content on the blog I've been meaning to write about for ages. Inspiration and drive can come from the most unexpected places, hopefully I'll inspire Coban the way he has me!

The BEST Protein Porridge

- Ready in under 4 mins
- A full, nutritionally balanced meal
- Easy to make, highly transportable

Ingredients:
75g Porridge Oats
50g Vanilla Protein Powder (could be Whey, Soy, Vegan, Hemp etc etc.)
15g Coconut Oil
10g Chia Seeds
150ml Almond Milk (could be any milk)
150ml Water
50g-100g Frozen Blueberries

Equipment:
Shaker Cup
1l Tupperware Container (with lid!)
Microwave
Spoon

Method:
- Measure the oats and chia seeds out into the plastic container (Tupperware).
- Add the milk and water to your shaker, add the protein powder and shake until mixed.
- Pour the protein mix over the oats & chia seeds - mix well! Get into all the corners!
- Add the coconut oil and give a final stir before placing the container (WITHOUT THE LID) into the microwave and nuking for 2mins.
- Give it a good stir, make sure you mix the oil into the porridge best you can. Be careful as it will be hotter than lava. Return the mixture to the microwave for 1min.
- When finished, add in the frozen blueberries and mix in thoroughly. The gloopy, cement-like mixture should start to turn a purple colour, the same purple as the Hulk's pants!
- After you've achieved "Hulk pants" level of purple with your mixing, whack the lid on to the container and via science, the frozen berries will cool the porridge to an edible temperature within a few mins. Alternatively once the lid is on, the tub can go directly into your bag and you have a meal on the go. Enjoy re-heated later on or it's perfectly enjoyable cold.
